To help you prepare for admission and understand the layout of the procedure, here are the steps applicants must follow when applying to Choate Rosemary Hall:
To start a Choate admission application, register with the Gateway portal and submit the information required to create a Candidate Profile. Your application is in progress now.
Choate conducts admission interviews from September to January. Applicants will get an email invitation to schedule an interview after submitting the inquiry form. The interviews take 45 minutes and are conducted through Zoom.
The interviewer, who might be an admissions official, faculty member, or alumnus, talks with the applicant for 20-25 minutes before moving on to parents/guardians or other registered guests for the remainder of the time. The admissions interview is an exciting part of the application process because it allows you to express your interests and passions while also asking questions about Choate to ensure that it is a good fit for you.
To complete the Choate application, you must first register and then submit the standardized tests. Choate recommends non-native English speakers to take IELTS or TOEFL exams to submit with their application. These standardized tests are as follows:
- 9th Grade Students: SSAT or ISEE
- 10th or 11th Grade Students: SSAT, ISEE, PSAT, SAT, or ACT
- Postgraduate Students: PSAT, SAT, or ACT
After receiving your scores, submit them with your admission application on the gateway.
The next step is writing an attractive applicant essay and submitting it to the gateway. A strong applicant essay expresses your academic and personal qualifications, underlines your interests and objectives for the school and includes the unique edge that sets you apart from other applicants. You’re also required to submit a Parent/Guardian Statement as well.
Request your principal or counsellor to provide you with a recommendation letter that speaks to your character and academic qualification to submit on the gateway.
Choate also requires applicants to submit their transcripts that include their current grades alongside their academic records from the last two years. Although optional, you may also ask a teacher to provide you with a recommendation letter that further attests to your qualifications and potential as a student.
Choate offers an extensive financial aid program for students and seeks to enroll the best students possible regardless of their financial situation. For the 2021-2022 academic year, nearly 32% of Choate students received financial help. The award amounts varied from $3,000 to full tuition. If you require any financial help, you may choose to fill out this application.
Starting in the fall, candidates start to receive an email informing them that their Choate Application Status Portal is now open. Monitor your application checklist and add any supplementary documents via your Choate Application Status Portal.
You can also use the portal to download any extra application materials, such as registration forms for admission events. Keep track of your application regularly to be notified of your admission.
Choate’s admission committee seeks out exemplary, uniquely talented applicants. This is why it’s important for applicants to highlight their best qualifications and academic objectives to stand out from that fierce competition.
