Choate Rosemary Hall was created after two separate educational institutions, the Choate School and the women’s boarding home Rosemary Hall, merged to serve as a singular education institution. The Choate Rosemary Hall is known for its high academic success as a community, but the institution also stresses ensuring that each student accomplishes his or her specific academic goals. Their faculty is dedicated to giving students the tools they need to think critically and independently, tackle complex situations and challenges with clarity, and become passionate learners.

Choate Rosemary Hall School is ranked as the second-best boarding high school in America due to its rich curriculum and endless learning possibilities. The school is committed to fostering and developing students from grade 9 to postgraduate. While academics are important, Choate strives to provide opportunities for students to pursue their interests and passions. Over 100 clubs and organizations ranging from health and wellness, community service, political, spiritual, creative, and academic focus help students explore new and existing interests outside of the classroom. The institution’s LEED Gold Certified St. John Hall provides a gaming room, a video room, commons spaces, student project rooms, the Choate Store, and various department offices. After the studies are over on weekends, exciting activities such as dances, athletic games, and service opportunities await students to relax and participate in their interests and passions. Arts

Music, dance, art, and performance bring the student experience to life. There are over 50 visual and performing arts classes available at Choate, as well as hundreds of events on the stage, in the studios, and in the galleries. Choate’s Arts Department cultivates a culture that values artistic effort as a vital component of a good education. Students can also develop their skills further by participating in the Arts Concentration signature program.

Athletics

Choate boasts 81 interscholastic teams in over 30 sports, varsity, junior varsity, and thirds, as well as intramural and dorm teams, welcoming well-seasoned players and those trying out for the first time. At least two terms every year, Choate students compete in athletic championships. With a wide range of teams available, there’s room and opportunities for everyone.
